We British are great at celebrating the good things in life, especially our youth, for as long as I can remember their have been Rock 'n' Roll Re-Unions, for the Teddy boys and girls, Biker/Rocker revivals with huge festivals, Northern Soul nights, weekends and even taking over holiday camps for the week, The annual Punk festival held in Blackpool's Winter Gardens attracts Punks from allover the UK, in their thousands, the August Bank Holiday Scooter Rally on the Isle of Wight has been attracting 10,000 Mod's, Skins and Scooterboys for years, as well as having very well attended rallies in holiday resorts throughout the UK in the summer months.

This is wonderful and how it should be, there is nothing wrong with looking back and celebrating what for many were the best days of our lives.

However the one culture that does not celebrate it's past enmasse are us, the youths of 75 - 95, the movers and groovers of the streets, the terraces, the clubs, our era was fantastic with many styles, great music, great times, we were given many labels by the media, who never fully understood us, we were looked down upon, we were misunderstood, but we did not care, we were not created by some high street fashion emporium, the argument will rage forever and a day as to who was the first amongst our culture, but it is not important, the fact is, we were the boys and girls, we knew who we were, what we were and why we were, whilst the Punks, Rockers, Ted's, Mod's, Soul Boys and Bikers were enjoying their weekend rallies and get togethers, our culture was day in and day out, ever evolving, going through many phases, but always one step ahead of the high street, as soon as they latched onto what we were about, we would move on, they could not get a grip, could they ?

Let's talk about numbers here : Our culture was bigger than every other culture in Britain put together... FACT.

Thousands of young men and ladies travelled the length and breadth of the country and abroad, teams like Manchester United, Liverpool, Everton, Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle, Leeds, Hibs, Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen Cardiff, Portsmouth and many more attracted thousands of youths and young men and ladies, the clubs in the city centres were full of hundreds sometimes thousands of us week in week out, for twenty years we reigned ! Concerts by bands like the Clash, the Jam, Madness, Specials, The Farm, Inspiral Carpets, Human League, New Order, Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Oasis, etc took us to all four corners of the UK.

Yet our culture was never celebrated via a reunion, well it is now ladies and gentlemen, Retro Man Promotions are proud to host the biggest & best event for many years at the Syndicate Superclub in Blackpool, 12 hours of great entertainment and live music from the countries top tribute bands from each decade, 70's - 80's - 90's, very much respected guest speakers, celebrity dj's, a huge retro clothes sale, retail stalls selling book's dvd's and sportswear etc, many of the football culture book authors from our generation have been invited along, this is a get together of like minded people who lived the life and look back with great fondness, whether we were Scallies, Perry Boys, Boot Boys, Soul Boys, Mods, Sod's, Dressers, Smoothies, Dancers, Chancers, Chaps, Ticket Touts, Sorts, Rogues and the Boys.

This event has created quite a stir and ticket orders have been overwhelming to say the least, the media are getting all giddy about it, with many features on the event due in the press, radio and TV prior to the event

John Robb [Goldblade]

John Robb is a spokesman for the generation of us in our 40's, John is as near as damn an expert on British youth cultre, music & fashion, born in Blackpool, and was a member of Blackpool Punk band the Membranes, before rising through the ranks as a writer for Sounds ,Melody Maker,
Zig Zag, Big Issue and many Foreign music papers.
His CV is a testimony to just how much John is revered within the music industry since the late 70's, his credits include being the first ever writer to interview Nirvana, he was also the first to write about The Madchester scene, he coined the word "Britpop" in 1989, he has produced several bands and wrote the best selling book about the Stone Roses.
John has been in the band Goldblade for a good while now who are always in high demand.

Bands

OasisOasist [Oasis Tribute]

Steve from Edinburgh summed up Oasist on their websites comments page : "You were fantastic, you sound and look just like the real band, I closed my eyes briefly and I could have been at Maine Road in 1996 seeing Oasis, you were that good, I have seen all the other Oasis tributes bands and have enjoyed the experience but Oasist are by far the best, a brilliant show!"
Can't really add much more to that only to confirm that Oasist are the most respected and popular Oasis tribute band in the UK, and we are delighted that they will be at Blackpool at our event to entertain you all.

The New Age JamNew Age Jam [The Jam and Weller Tribute]

There are many Jam tribute bands and most of them are very good, however I believe in New Age Jam we have the very best Jam tribute band, and not only that they also do a Paul Weller tribute as part of this great show, so we are getting the very best of the Jam and the very best of mr. Paul Weller, an absolutelyPaul Weller superb show, that once more takes us back to those brilliant days of the late 70's/early 80's watching the Jam up and down the country.
New Age Jam reproduce those fantastic times and tunes that shaped so many of our lives. the adrenaline rush from hearing those 100 mph tunes will lift you higher and higher, and the Paul Weller show will just confirm to you just how brilliant New Age Jam really are.
To celebrate our street & terrace culture we just had to have a "Jam tribute" and thank god we nailed the best !
This is the Modern World!

BadnessBadness [Madness / Bad Manners Tribute]

When I first has this event in mind, I thought "which tribute band would have the place rockin?", and I recalled seeing this great Ska band several years ago in Oldham (Chicago Rock) on a Weds night, and it was as good as night as I have ever had, the place was bouncin', the atmosphere was electric and I never forgot what a great time everybody had, even the bar staff and door staff were dancing about like loonies!
I was thrilled to bits to find out not only were Badness still doing the business but had amassed a huge following and were as popular and exciting as ever. the ultimate "fun band" playing all those"Ska classics" from our youth, Madness, Bad Manners, Specials, etc, they are THE ideal band for this kind of event,

Sex Pistols Experience [Tribute]

The Sex Pistols Experience have come highly recommended, by many respected people in the music business, no celebration of British music and fashion since 1975 would be complete without the Sex pistols being on board, we all remember where we were when the Pistols burst onto the scene like a tornado, they blew away the comfortable soft rock of the Eagles, Genesis & Yes and made us pogo, leap about, challenge society and have a right good laugh along the way. Prepare yourselves for a surge down memory lane and let's just see how long you can pogo for nowadays !
"We're so pretty oh so pretty vacant ! and we don't care!"

Clint Boon Clint Boon (Inspiral Carpets)

Clint Boon epitomises the word cool, an integral member of the brilliant Inspiral Carpets, his name, experience and knowledge of the music industry of the era the event covers is second to none, currently dj-ing on XFM radio station, he has amassed a huge following and is as popular as ever, he is admired by fans, friends & colleagues. His" Indie nights specials" are very much in demand. Clint is multi talented, if ever a man knew the score it is Clint Boon, It is with great pride and fortune that Retro man Promotions have secured the services of Clint to MC the event and also do a stormin' 2-3 hour set, that will have the Syndicate club rockin'. We know we have the right man to do the right job at the right place!
